Romantic make over

So here it is...my grandma's renovated dresser.

I still want to sand the curves a little

Todavía me hace falta gastarle las curvitas

But it´s ready and looking pretty to me!

Pero ya está listo y yo lo veo lindo!

I wanted to rescue it's vintage feel, and just placed on it things that belonged to our grandparents, the cutlery was a gift from my mother in law's mother,one of the very first things we got when we started living together. She is not with us anymore, we called her Ata... she was adorable.

Quise dejarle ese aire vintage y puse encima cositas que nos recuerdan a nuestros abuelos, los cubiertos fueron un regalo la abuelita materna de mi esposo,una de las primeras cosas que tuvimos cuando nos pasamos a vivir juntos. Le decíamos Ata y era un amor.

This belonged to my father in law's father, his name was Celso, my husband is called after him and he really loved his grandpa, his nickname was Tata, he was a gifted fisherman and also loved to cook, just as my husband!

Este cuadro era del papá de mi suegro, se llamaba Celso y así le pusieron a mi esposo, pero todos le decíamos Tata. Era un pescador buenísimo y le encantaba cocinar, igual que a mi esposo!

Transforming an oldie

I just brought this piece from my mother's house.

Acabo de sacar este mueble de la casa de mi mamá.

 

This guy was once black, it was my grandma's dresser and it's been around since I was two years old.

Era negrísimo, era el tocador de mi abuela paterna y existe desde que yo tenía dos años.

After a lot of sanding, I actually liked how the wood looked all chippy.

Después de una larga lijada me gustó mucho el look de la madera con cascarones negros. 

But I decided it was going to be Sherwin William's Antique White, as the rest of my dinning room...

Pero decidí pintarlo de Blanco Antiguo, de Sherwin Williams, como el resto de mi comedor...

For the love of a lens

I have a beautiful new 35mm lens! My camera looks so pretty with it and I'm amazed by the quality of the images. So far these are the few I've taken but I see good things in the future of this blogger haha!

Tengo un lente nuevo! Es de 35 mm y mi cámara se ve divina y yo estoy asombrada por la calidad de la imagen! Hasta ahora sólo he tomado estas fotos pero puedo adivinar que vienen buenas cosas para esta blogger jeje!

 Let me tell you, some months a go I found out about it at Joana Goddard's blog and since then I've been obsessed about it. Although the book turned out to be a success, I don't know if it will ever hit the stores around here, so I ended up ordering a copy via internet.

Hace meses lo descubrí por primera vez en el blog de Joanna Goddard y desde entonces me obsesioné con el librito, a pesar de que resultó ser un éxito, no sé cuánto tiempo va a tardar en llegar a las librerías nacionales, así es que preferí comprarlo por internet de una vez por todas.

For those who don't know, the author is a french designer and a former model who in the 80's was  Karl Lagerfeld's muse and represented the image of Chanel by over a decade.

Para las que no tienen idea, la autora es una diseñadora francesa que en su faceta de modelo en los 80 se convirtió en la musa de Karl Lagerfeld y con su imagen representó a Chanel a lo largo de una década.

Her style is so simple and yet elegant. She says that any woman can have the style of a french woman, all you need is to learn about basics and improve the art of mixing accesories.

Su estilo es sencillo pero super elegante a la vez. Ella asegura que cualquier mujer puede hacer suyo el estilo de las francesas, sólo hay que conocer los elementos básicos y afilar el arte de mezclar los accesorios.

Showing some love

I want to share some pics from the family day, there was something fun to do for everyone...

But what caught my eye were these doggies, they were on adoption and some lucky ones found a new home that day.

Pero lo que más me llamó la atención fueron unos perritos que tenían en adopción,los más suertudos encontraron un hogar ese día.

I know, I know... It's just too sad to see them like this.

Si ya sé, es demasiado triste verlos así en las jaulitas.

Most of them had terrible experiences with their care givers, they were starving, abandoned and this white one was even shot by his owner.
.....
Lo peor fue darme cuenta de que no los rescataron de la calle, sino de sus propios dueños. Los tenían en el abandono, muertos de hambre y este blanquito sobrevivió a un disparo de su dueño.

Good thing the girls of all ages got crazy for them and their moms were willing to take home the little animals.
.....
Por dicha las niñas de todas las edades se volvieron locas con los perritos y muchas mamás aceptaron llevárselos para la casa.

To hear their stories and realize how much each had suffered made me cry,I'm so happy they had another chance to learn they can trust in humans.
....
Lloré cuando supe cuánto había sufrido cada uno y me alegra muchísimo que tengan otra oportunidad para aprender a confiar en los humanos.

If you have one of these friends at home, go hug it and show some love, they deserve it!

Si tiene un amiguito de estos en su casa vaya a abrazarlo y demuéstrele su cariño porque se lo merecen!
